For Dakota

Dearest Angel,
The prettiest in heaven.
When you look down on your Father,
Don’t see the man he is, see the one he wants to be.
See the man fishing with his daughter,
Putting the worm on the hook.
Not the one sitting alone,
Falling apart inside.
Don’t see the one who’s temper gets away,
Because he’s bottled it up within.
See the one who would have helped you up,
While teaching you to ride your bike.
Don’t see the one who suffers,
From the invisible monsters that follow him around.
See the one that would slay an angry dragon,
To save the beautiful Princess.
He would slay a dozen big ones to have you by his side,
But you knew all of this already,
Because you can see within my heart.
